What you need to know about the VA appointment process

A VA official is investigating after a woman was given an appointment for a primary care doctor who is not licensed in her state.

It’s the latest development in the VA’s investigation of the woman’s appointment.

The woman was initially assigned to Dr. Tiana O’Connell in New Mexico, according to a VA press release Monday.

O’Connor was recently promoted to a full-time position at Veterans Health Administration (VHA) in Albuquerque.

In an email to The Associated Press on Monday, a VHA spokesperson confirmed the appointment was for Dr. O”Connell.

The agency has declined to say what the patient’s qualifications were or what medical conditions she might have, the statement said.

The VA says it is investigating the issue and working with O’Brien’s attorney.

The Associated Statesman reports that O’Connor did not respond to an interview request.
