Phil Scott on Tuesday announced that the state will soon offer its residents the option of receiving an oral polio vaccine (OPV) in conjunction with the NVDCA.
The decision comes less than two weeks after the state announced that it would soon offer an oral vaccine to all its residents, the first such program to be administered outside of the U.S. The state also plans to offer a second shot at the beginning of 2019.
Scott made the announcement during a joint press conference with Assembly Speaker Mike Vallas, D-Fairfield, who added that the governor is hopeful that more than one million Americans will get a vaccine during the new administration.
Vallas said that he is confident that Vermont will be able to provide an effective and safe vaccine to its residents.
“I am confident that our residents will be protected, that our vaccines will be safe, and that our health care system will be secure,” Vallas said.
Vaseline-free NVDA: The only way to get a safe vaccine is to get vaccinated, said Scott.
I’m very confident that we’ll be able do that.
“Scott added that he has a plan in place to provide the shot at an appointment in Vermont, and the governor has also indicated that he plans to make the vaccination process as simple as possible.
Vulnerable populations have been waiting for the shot to arrive for a long time, Scott said.
In March 2018, Vermont Gov, Phil Scott announced that he would soon begin administering the oral vaccine in conjunction the NVDMV program, which he has called “the only vaccine that can protect us from the pandemic.”
This was in response to a report from the National Vaccine Information Center, which said that only a single shot is needed to protect against the coronavirus.
The state is expected to administer a total of 30,000 doses of the vaccine, which will be distributed through a voluntary program known as the NVDCA, or the New York National Vaccination Program.
The first vaccination, which was to begin in March 2019, was delayed due to the coronaviirus pandemic.
The announcement comes a little over a month after the NVDPC released a report that estimated that only 6% of the American population will get vaccinated by 2020.
According to the report, only 2% of Americans have received a vaccine in the past year.
